Worship Ministry
Praise Service begins at 8:00 AM each Sunday. This worship experience combines elements of traditional Christian worship and contemporary Christian worship, blending them in a way to make this time together meaning and uplifting for us, and pleasing in God's sight.
Worship is the central activity at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ. Our Sunday morning worship at 10:10 is traditional. The recently renovated Kimball pipe organ, played by our Director of Music, Jonathan Block, provides the main music. Special music in a variety of styles and with different instruments is also offered at this service. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.
This service provides worshipers time for singing, prayer, hearing scripture and a message delivered by the Senior Pastor, Rev. Jonathan T. Basile, or the Visitation Pastor, Rev. Jack Eichacker. A Children's Time is provided during the service and nursery care is available by a certified provider.
Educational Ministry
Sunday School is offered every week at 9:00 AM for all ages.
Zion Young Adult Church School (YACS) meets Sunday morning, 9AM-10AM in the YACS room on the 2nd floor on the south side of the church building. The young people of Zion Evangelical are one of our most important resources. The Young Adult Church School seeks to nurture the young people through a weekly church school time. Bible study, group discussions, class activities and even field trips are used to help the young people understand and grow in their faith. And along the way, the young people also have a lot of fun! Please join us on Sunday morning. You can find the YACS page on our website by going to the Church Resources tab at the top of any page and scrolling down. Check us out!!!
Monthly Bible Study
We currently enjoy a Bible Study time, in which we study scripture and how it relates to various topics of interest. Bible Study takes place on the first Thursday of every month, from 12:30 - 1:00 PM, in the Capehart Room at the Scottish Rite Cathedral (650 N. Meridian Street). The Capehart Room is located near the Double Eagle Café in the building, which can be accessed from the rear entrance. The Scottish Rite Cathedral parking lot can be accessed from North Street. Parking during lunch is free. Everyone attending this lunchtime bible study is encouraged to come early if possible, purchase something from the café, and bring it into the Capehart Room. The café has a large selection of different kinds of food and drink, and its prices are very reasonable. At 12:30 PM we'll begin our study, and have a wonderful time learning about God's Word!
This Bible study opportunity is open to everyone in our congregation AND to the community. Come, bring a friend, and let us learn and grow together!
Women's Bible Study
Zion now offers a Wednesday night Bible study for women. This group meets at 6:30 PM at Zion Evangelical on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. The group uses Beth Moore's Breaking Free for the study. Beth Moore is a popular Christian educator and speaker who takes biblical teachings and applies them in a relevant way to current women's issues. Her lessons are on DVD, and are always informative and entertaining.
Invite your friends and family...all are welcome.
